Intuitive Grooves - GUITAR lessons
Steve Carter Dip. Mus (QCM)
Steve Carter's versatility has enabled him to perform in a wide variety of venues including national festivals, and clubs & hotels within Australia and overseas, as a Guitarist and Singer.
He began performing at a very early age and during his informative years, spent two years playing in S.E. Asia and was a Singer/Guitarist for an extensive U.S. Services tour of Thailand. He later fronted “The Dux Deluxe” a Noosa Heads band with a very popular local following.
Steve often performed Spanish and Classical music, as a soloist, to patrons of the Jazz Cellar in Brisbane and later graduated from the Qld. Conservatorium of Music after which Steve studied for a further 2 years at the Canberra School of Music (A.N.U.) with Timothy Kain and Sadie Bishop, both close colleagues of the great John Williams.
He has since published Guitar tutor books with CD’s, 'Introducing Classical Guitar', in the U.K., U.S.A., South America, S.E. Asia, and Europe.
Steve was coached in Stagecraft by some of Australia’s leading cabaret performers including Chelsea Brown and Marty Rhone. He has sung with the Yellow Rolls Royce Orchestra with Gough Whitlam and other dignitaries in attendance, and has been lead Singer/Guitarist in several bands and duos including Canberra bands, “Say Yes” and “Shakin’ not Stirred”.
He later moved to Sydney and recorded an independent CD called “Heart to Heart” using some of Australia’s finest musicians including Sam McNally, Alan Dargin (Aust. foremost Didj player), Andrew Oh (Tommy Emmanuel), and Rod McCormack (The Wheel). The Canberra Chronicle described the CD as “… a sweeping musical journey of ballads … the tales that are spun are exquisite”.
As a soloist Steve Carter has been on the same bill with acts as diverse as aboriginal rock band, Coloured Stone and Kamahl. He has performed his original songs at the Sydney Harbourside Brasserie, the Cat & Fiddle and the Tilbury Hotels, five shows at the festival of Mind, Body and Spirit in Melbourne and previously at the Canberra Southern Cross Club where an excited crowd clapped and cheered raucously before lining up and purchasing 35 copies of his CD (Steve was signing them for an hour).
At the Cat & Fiddle a freelance writer described Steve as “a true artist and painter of feelings, a teller of truism … full of insight into our own self development”.
From his base in Burleigh Waters on Qld's Gold Coast, Steve Carter’s next ambition is to pass on his considerable knowledge to his students, and to have his CD of original songs reach the overseas markets that his tutor books have found.
